LTACHs vs SNFs: Study finds decreases in spending and LOS

A recent ATI Advisory study found that Medicare spending was 10-20% lower for beneficiaries discharged to a Kindred LTACH in Las Vegas than for beneficiaries discharged to a SNF. This is one finding that led to them to conclude that “LTAC hospitals should be considered for participation in additional value-based models, such as ACOs as well as payer networks to provide high-quality care for a complex patient population.”
