Forrester: Safeguarding Collaboration Tools for the Remote Workforce

The World Has Changed

The global pandemic made almost everyone a work-from-home employee overnight, forcing IT to provision a number of cloud applications – specifically collaboration tools that facilitate communication, like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Slack, and others – all at once. With such a rapid adoption of these tools and the threats that come with them, organizations haven’t yet found a way to secure and manage this new attack vector.

What’s more, these apps are not immune from governance and legal oversight. In fact, traditional governance concerns, like regulatory compliance and litigation, have evolved to include content beyond email. Privacy initiatives, regulations, and the need to safeguard personal data in a systematic and controlled way have expanded to include messaging and collaboration content, since it’s become such a critical part of how the workforce conducts business today. Lost content due to accidental or malicious deletion is always a threat and enterprises need adequate data protection. Without strong backup and recovery, there can be lost productivity and downtime as IT struggles to restore operations.
