An organization will fall victim to a ransomware attack every 11 seconds by the end of 2021, according to a Cybersecurity Ventures report, and effectively protecting your data and IT environment gets more complex by the day
Gone are the days when antivirus would prevent an attack and traditional backups could be used to recover the environment without much business impact. With the increase of digitalization and decentralized IT infrastructures, organizations rely on more dynamic solutions to safeguard their complex IT environment and protect their mission-critical data, applications and workloads against disruptions and threats like cyberattacks.
Malware, breaches, phishing and other cyberattacks have been on the rise for years, and the dramatic explosion in ransomware attacks is shaking the IT security landscape. Gartner predicts that by 2025, at least 75% of IT organizations will face one or more attacks, as researchers document a dramatic increase in ransomware attacks during 2020, pointing to sevenfold or higher rates of growth. This statistic is particularly alarming given ransomware’s ability to quietly encrypt data, undetected— potentially for weeks or even months. It’s not unusual that the malware is deeply embedded in systems throughout the organization for an extended period before the ransomware is deployed to encrypt critical data.
