A recurring discussion in the industry is whether public cloud is more cost effective than private cloud, or vice versa. There is no argument that the public cloud provides great agility, enabling you to add and remove resources at will. It is also known that the public cloud is sold in an Opex model, saving the Capex investments that are needed for a private cloud, whether on-premise or off. What has not been so clear is the likely effect of public cloud on your total cost of ownership.
