Composable infrastructure is an emerging architecture for server, storage and network hardware that creates physical systems from shared pools of disaggregated resources using an API. Composable promises efficient use of physical resources, and enables rapid configuration of customized bare-metal server and storage configurations. In enterprise data centers, composable infrastructure will coexist with other types of infrastructure, including converged and hyperconverged systems, and traditional three-tier architectures. Composable is not exclusive to specific vendors or architectures; as it delivers bare-metal servers and storage, hyperconverged and other architectures can be run on top of a composable base layer.
